Setting up a Distributed Computing Farm.
I'd written several guides on various aspects of my setup method and the utilities used to maintain my SETI system but they needing linking together into some sense of order. Additionally I've started to run other projects for which other utilities have been developed to allow the same level of monitoring as is available for SETI. Basically I wanted to have my Windows NT 4.0 + 2000 network of Dual and single processors machines run without the clients being seen and for the machines to be run and managed without monitor, keyboard or mouse. Here are the links and guides I found and wrote.
My current spec for a caseless DC Node (updated 20/12/02)..
Setting up the machines in a stack with no case, keyboard, monitor or mouse.
Setting up distributed computing clients as a hidden service with remote monitoring and management.
Using VNC to manage headless clients.
SETI@Home work unit caching with SETIQ.
Monitoring SETI@Home over the network using SETIWatch.
Monitoring Genome@Home and Folding@Home over the network.
